Tanzania, Statistics indicate that a total 1245 people died and more than 2000 were injured due to road accidents. Out of these road accidents 56 students died and 65 injured during that period (Dailynews, 2021). Now, the majority of these boys and girls have limited understanding or awareness of Road safety including following the instruction of road signs. As a result, the majority of students are victims of road accidents in Dar es Salaam which is a congested city with the largest transportation activities of large trucks, cars, cyclists, motorcycles and others alike. The city has a population of almost 7 million (NBS) and population density of approximately 8,100 persons per square kilometres.
Consequently, Road accidents have increased the burden of expenses to the nation and to the individual particular money used in medical, emergency transport, cost of police and funerals. Therefore the increase in road traffic accidents will have direct or indirect effects on the economy of the country. Understanding the trends and patterns of road traffic accidents can help to predict the need for additional services and resources and guide policy-makers on implementing appropriate and sustainable prevention strategies on a long-term basis.
